Unlike modern drywall, original plaster is a specialized material that requires traditional craftsmanship to repair correctly. Whether your plaster is crumbling, bulging away from the wall, or suffering from moisture impact, we carefully restore damaged areas while preserving the surrounding original surface. We recreate the proper multi-coat application so your walls retain their historic integrity, sound-muffling qualities, and solid feel.

In older homes, plaster relies on thin wooden strips called lath to lock it in place. When lath rots, snaps, or pulls away from the wall studs, the overlying plaster fails. We carefully remove degraded wood lath, reinforce or replace the underlying framing, and install new wood lath or modern mesh backings to provide a rock-solid anchor for new plaster coats.

A brushed plaster finish creates a soft, fine-grained texture that adds quiet sophistication to interior or exterior walls. Using specialized masonry brushes on wet plaster, we draw subtle parallel lines and sweeping motions across the surface. The result is a clean, uniform look with a rich tactile feel that catches natural sunlight beautifully.

Textured plaster adds architectural character, warmth, and visual depth to any room. We offer a full spectrum of hand-applied plaster textures—from light, subtle patterns like orange peel and knockdown to rich, heavy historic textures like Spanish hand-troweled or Mediterranean style. As older foundations settle over time, rigid plaster walls develop hairline cracks, structural splits, or spiderweb fractures. Simply filling these cracks with spackle will only result in them reappearing when temperatures or humidity shift. We stabilize loose plaster around the crack, bridge the joint with high-strength fiberglass mesh, and apply flexible bonding compounds that absorb natural house movement.
